The Union Minister Of Water Resources & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal inaugurated IITF Pavilion of the Ministry with the theme Save Water! Secure Future in New Delhi today. Ministry of Water Resources has created a pavilion in Hall No. 7E in the 31st Edition of India International Trade Fair being organized by ITPO in Pragati Maiden from 14th to 27th November, 2011. The pavilion is carrying different exhibitory materials viz working models, translates, banners, posters etc. The theme of pavilion is “SAVE WATER! SECURE FUTURE”
Various organizations under Ministry of Water Resources viz. Central Water Commission (CWC), Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), National Water Development Agency (NWDA), Central soil and materials Research Stations (CSMRS), National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Central Water & Power Research Station (CWPRS), and Public Sector undertakings viz. Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Ltd. (WAPCOS) and National Projects construction corporation Limited (NPCC) are exhibiting their models and other exhibitory materials to showcase their activities and achievements.
The central attraction of pavilion is large size working model of proposed Pancheshwer Multipurpose Project (PMP) a joint venture of India-Nepal as per the Indo-Nepal Mahakali Treaty. The features of Pancheshwer model include Pancheshwer Dam Complex, Rupaligad Dam Complex, Tanakpur Barrage and Banbasa Barrage. This is for first time that working model of water resources Project at such large scale has been prepared in the country.
In view of increasing scarcity of water resources, the conservation and judicious use of water has assumed great importance. Accordingly, the message matching with theme of pavilion is being exhibited through interactive models and other means to spread awareness and education among visitors. The various schemes of MoWR and their achievements are also being displayed in the CWC stall. The models and exhibitory materials are being explained to visitors by resource persons of relevant fields to ensure that people are motivated in appreciating the necessity and utility of these techniques for conservation of water for future generations.
Children represent next generation and constitute one of most important clientele groups in focus for awareness campaign of Ministry. The Ministry has therefore sought to involve them through a blend of traditional and electronic media. Accordingly, a student corner has been provided in the pavilion where a pantomime show, which is traditional art form and quiz show on various aspects of water are also being organized throughout the duration of fair to attract and educate children especially the students about issues relating to water resources management.
