India finalised 81 Athletes Contingent to send in London Olympics 2012

India finalised on 14 July 2012 to send its largest ever group of 81 athletes to participate in 13 sports events for London Olympics 2012. The London Olympics 2012 is scheduled from 27 July 2012 to 12 August 2012. In the last 2008 Olympic in Beijing, India had send 57 athletes who had participated in 12 events.
The Indian team includes 58 men and 23 women. The Indian team is likely to participate in 54 events. The events include Weightlifting, Wrestling, Rowing, Table Tennis, Swimming, Shooting, Hockey, Judo, Badminton, Boxing, Archery, and Athletics.
Indian Olympics Association (IOA) on 15 July 2012 announced a bronze medallist at Benjing Games Susil Kumar (wrestler) as India’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012. Besides Sushil, IOA shortlisted Vijendra Singh (top boxer), Abhinav Bindra (shooter), Leander Paes (tennis player) for the flag bearer’s role in London Olympics 2012.
Ajit Pal Singh is decided as the chef de mission for London Olympics 2012 of the Indian contingent.
